The Council's mission is "to facilitate community-supported maintenance and restoration of the streams, rivers, and lakes within our watersheds".

Team work makes the Dream work
Animals that work together in nature are species that cooperate in activities such as hunting, migrating, protecting members, and securing territories. For example, ants, beavers, and buffaloes. Emulating these animals can help you improve your teamwork.

Six team members from the Powder Basin Watershed Council, forest service, and community, pose in front of a newly built BDA (Beaver Dam Analog). Good work team.

Brogan Rabe and volunteers demonstrate how to weave the willow and alder material into the area where posts have been driven to create a BDA

It is time to add in some mattress material in the BDA to diffuse the water and prevent eroding of the posts in the channel
When harvesting willow and alder for Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs), focus on gathering dormant, live cuttings that can establish new growth. The timing and method of harvesting are critical for preserving the health of the "donor" plant stands and ensuring the viability of the materials used in the BDAs.
