Fall Cleanup!

The Powder Basin Watershed Council had an amazing turnout for this year's fall cleanup event! Baker Technical High School students from Burke Smejkal's Aquaponics and Aquaculture classes partnered with us to help put native plants in the ground. The students planted a total of thirty two plants including golden wax currents, red osier dogwood, and mock orange. Also joining us was the Baker City Girl Scouts! The Girl Scouts helped pull over 650 pounds of garbage from the Powder River. In total, the Powder Basin Watershed Council removed forty two bags of trash over a distance of two miles! Among the most found items were cigarette butts, food wrappers and grocery bags. Can you think of how you can help keep our waterways clean?
